They stood in her lab, staring, the tension palpable.

"I've had enough! I'm going to Hammond."

"Sir, no! You can't!"

"I have to, Carter."

"Please, Colonel. The team needs you."

"And I need you in my life."

"You already have that."

"Not the way I want, the way I need."

"You can't leave the SGC."

He sighed. "It's the only way."

"We'll find another."

"We've been over this before. There isn't one."

"There has to be something."

"There is. This."

"But, Sir ..."

"I love you Sam. I need you."

"I love you too."

"It's settled then. I'm gonna' retire."
